Show Opening for Softly Lit Studios was a SUCCESS!

Friends in attendance at Maggie Houtz's photo show
The opening reception for my current show at Whole Foods Market in Venice was a tremendous success. So many friends, family and colleagues came out in support. I am honored and feel the love! The opening ran from 5:30pm-8:30pm and featured DJ Kevin Chills spinning a groovy set of downtempo, a perfect complement to the visual display, as well as a tasty spread of hors d'oeuvres sponsored by one of Whole Foods' vendors. There was a near-constant flow of visitors mingled with curious shoppers who heard the music throughout the store and came to see what all the fuss was about. Initial early feedback has been entirely positive on both the prints and they way they are laid out on the wall. Since this was my first show, I was mostly "winging it" in how I chose the layout so I am grateful to know I was "in the ballpark". I am pleased to say that I sold several prints during the opening and shortly thereafter. Given that my work will be on display for the next month, I hope to continue that success, and am hard at work preparing my work for even bigger printing, a popular request from the friends in attendance at the show. All of the prints in the show, as well as many others, are also available for purchase in my photo store in limited editions. If you aren't able to make it by Whole Foods before Dec. 14, please do come visit my online gallery to see what I think of as my best work. Immense gratitude to those who helped make it a memorable night...Dave for all his ingenuity & emotional support; Kevin for his sultry sounds; Kelly for the opportunity; and all who cheered me on both before and during! Thanks y'all!
