I'm stoked to have a new live recorded mix to share!
The setting was an impressive venue called Members, a Moroccan-themed restaurant in Hollywood, that turns into a nightclub after 10pm. The cause for celebration was my buddy Treavor Moontribe's 50th birthday. He was planning to play a marathon 4-hour set and invited me to play during the dinner hours as an opener.
When I asked Treavor if he had any special birthday requests, he asked me to finish my set at or near 110-115 bpm 4/4 grooves, and that was the motivation I needed to finally dust off a bunch of slow house music I'd been collecting over the past few years, but had very little chance to play out.
This mix starts off slow and sultry, moves through some genuine classics (hello, Nightmares on Wax and Jazzanova), and finishes with some wiggly, playful slow house. I had so much fun with this one!
The artwork (made by me) started out as a shot I took of a wrought iron staircase in a fancy hotel along the Danube in Budapest, wrangled into a kaleidoscopic thing as I like to do.
