Joseph Chad Hill: A Photography Retrospective

A dear friend and fellow photographer, Joe was remarkable for not only his eye, but his entire philosophy of making every day of his life count. He knew his time was limited, due to a degenerative condition; his gusto for exploring new realms was commendable. Most recently, in October/November 2010, Joe returned to Ghana for the fourth time, to capture its essence and to bring back hand-carved djembe drums for good friends. Shortly after his return, Joe’s health declined rapidly […]

New Photo Set – Salton Sea, Salvation Mountain & Slab City

Recently I spent a day in the Salton Sea area of California with some photographer friends. In all its desolation and desperation, there’s a certain level of ingenuity evident from those who choose to eke out an existence in those harsh circumstances, and it’s permeable if you pay attention. It’s not a life I could envision for myself but I admire those who can. I’ve posted the shots to a set on Flickr.

Show Opening for Softly Lit Studios was a SUCCESS!

The opening reception for my current show at Whole Foods Market in Venice was a tremendous success. So many friends, family and colleagues came out in support. I am honored and feel the love! The opening ran from 5:30pm-8:30pm and featured DJ Kevin Chills spinning a groovy set of downtempo, a perfect complement to the visual display, as well as a tasty spread of  hors d’oeuvres sponsored by one of Whole Foods’ vendors. There was a near-constant flow of visitors […]

“Locals Night” feat. Photographer Maggie Houtz, Nov. 18, 2010

Woop woop…the moment is almost here! When Kelly from Whole Foods approached me this past summer and asked me if I would be interested in showing my shots in a solo show, I jumped for joy. Thrilled at the opportunity, I’ve been hard at work these past months getting my photo library in shape to prepare for my first show. There has been lots to do, but it’s right on schedule. If you’re in the Los Angeles area and would […]
